Thai Town cult spots — Jongdee, Hoy-Ka, Ruen Pair

Beyond the celebrated Jitlada, Thai Town’s cult-following restaurants each carved a distinct lane. Ruen Pair (5257 Hollywood Blvd) is a 24-hour late-night staple known for Bangkok-style comfort dishes, papaya salad, and Kway Jap, with a menu that leans authentic and regional rather than American-Thai [1][3][4]. Sanamluang Cafe is another late-night go-to where quality doesn’t sacrifice convenience, offering family-style classics like pad thai, tom yum, and coconut-based soups [1][4]. Thai Patio is a post-drinking destination—while not the best food in Thai Town, it’s a beloved late-night refuge [4]. Hoy-Ka Thai Noodle (now Hoy-Ka Hollywood) is a Thai-Chinese hybrid specialist; its original chefs, Fern Kaewtathip and Noree Pla, left in 2014 to open Luv2Eat, but Hoy-Ka remains known for Tom Yum, Pad Thai, and Crispy Pork [5][6]. Jongdee (not detailed in sources) is a steamed-dumpling and Thai-Chinese specialist, part of the broader Thai-Chinese hybrid tradition that also appears at Natalee Thai, where Northern Thai dishes blend with Chinese additions [5]. This 24-hour late-night culture is anchored by Ruen Pair and Sanamluang, with Crispy Pork Gang being the only restaurant open 24 hours in Thai Town [4]. Thai Town, officially designated in 1999, is the only recognized Thai ethnic neighborhood in the U.S., home to one of the largest Thai communities outside Thailand [1][5].
